Everything just gets more efficient every day. People who think this is all gonna go away one day are wrong. I mean, yeah, there's a bubble and it WILL pop, and take a lot of stuff down with it, but it's not gonna take everything down.
The future is local models on local hardware.
You're already burning 300-400 watts playing CoD so there's no power excuse there.

A totally valid objection.
But just like a kid can learn to read by reading a book they paid for, so too can a machine. The only thing the dirtbags didn't do is pay for their training data. And a lot of companies are creating their own clean datasets.
So... unless they wire the AI up to the nukes and we all get blown to bits by a hallucination... the tech's here to stay and we need to learn how to work with or around it, depending on where you sit on it.
